Rare triple play catches Tigers as Houston pulls off win, 3-2
Ian Kinsler hit a ground ball near third base that turned into a triple play in the 5th inning and Houston's starting pitcher Lance McCullers went on to earn his first career victory to lead the Astros past the Detroit Tigers, 3-2.
It was Houston's first triple play since August 19, 2004 and the Astros followed it up by scoring two runs in the 6th inning to take the lead & ultimately win the game. Tigers starting pitcher Kyle Lobstein (3-5) gave up three runs in 5 & 2/3 innings.
Detroit will conclude their four-game weekend series with Houston at Comerica Park this Sunday afternoon at 1 pm before taking off to the west coast.
