Titans roll past Loyola 90-69 in the HL 1st Round
With Chase Simon scoring the 1st nine points for Detroit, the 5th seed Titans took over and never looked back as they beat #8 Loyola, 90-69. Balanced scoring was the key for Detroit as six Titan players scored in double figures, with Simon leading the way with 19 points. Ray McCallum helped out with 16 points, as well as Jason Calliste with 14 ponts, including going 8-for-8 from the free throw line.
The #5 Detroit Titans (17-15) will now head to Milwaukee, WI to face #4 Valparaiso this Friday night at 8:30 pm ET in the quarterfinals of the Horizon League Tournament. Valpo defeated #9 Youngstown State 80-71 in the 1st round to advance. In other 1st round action, #3 Cleveland State defeated #10 UIC, 73-61 and #6 Wright State took down #7 Green Bay 60-50. Cleveland State & Wright State will face each other in the quarterfinals this Friday at 6 pm ET in Milwaukee. The 1st seed Panthers and #2 Butler Bulldogs will play the winners of the quarterfinals on Saturday.
