Big Ten women come away victorious on Super Sunday
Aerial Powers scored 25 points and Tori Jankoska hit four free throws in the final 23 seconds as the Michigan State Spartans defeated the Iowa Hawkeyes on the road, 74-69. Powers has now scored 25 or more points in each of the last five games for MSU at an average of 27.6 points per game. The Spartans will return home to East Lansing to host Penn State this Thursday evening at 6:30 pm.
Sophomore Katelynn Flaherty scored a career-best 36 points to became the second sophomore in school history to reach the 1,000-point mark as the Michigan Wolverines defeated the Illinois Fighting Illini, 96-83. Flaherty reached the 30-point mark for the fifth time this season, hitting 13-of-18 shots from the floor for Michigan. U-M freshman Hallie Thome scored 25 points on 9-for-10 shooting and junior Siera Thompson finished the day with 11 points, eight assists, & six rebounds. The Wolverines will remain in Ann Arbor to host Wisconsin this Thursday night at 7 pm.
