Tigers kick off 20-game stretch with loss to Sox, 6-4
The Detroit Tigers started off their grueling 20-game stretch on a sour note. Juan Pierre hurt the Tigers with offense and defense as Detroit fell to the White Sox, 6-4, in Chicago.
The Tigers had a golden opportunity to score multiple runs in the eighth inning with the bases loaded with one out against White Sox reliever Matt Thornton, but only managed to score one run, due to Alex Avila's deep fly ball that allowed Victor Martinez to score and cut the lead to one.
Despite the loss, Casper Wells hit a three-run homerun for Detroit, in an attempt to try to win 10 straight games against the White Sox for the first time since 1923.
The Tigers will try again Saturday night to pull out a win against their division & arch rival Chicago White Sox.
