Titans stop short with tough battle vs. Mississippi St., 80-75
Trailing by as many as 15 points in the second half, the Detroit Titans (5-8 ) got a spark from their bench to run-off 10 straight points, but it wasn't enough as the Mississippi State Bulldogs held on for an 80-75 win Saturday afternoon at Calihan Hall. With the game tied at 75 with 19 seconds to play, Bulldogs' Rodney Hood hit a jumper to put the game away.
Ray McCallum and Chase Simon each had 17 points to pace the Detroit attack. Arnett Moultie and Brian Bryant also each scored 17 for the Bulldogs (11-1) while Renardo Sidney added 16.
Detroit will finish up the bulk of its non-conference schedule when they host Alabama State this Thursday night at 7 pm from Calihan Hall.
