The Detroit Tigers lost a close and important game to the Chicago White Sox on Monday 5-4. The game had been cancelled due to rain last Thursday, and Monday's makeup game was the final meeting of the two teams for the season. The Tigers got out to a quick 3-0 lead on RBI's from Austin Jackson and Delmon Young. Dewayne Wise responded for the White Sox with a two-out single to tie the game 3-3 in the fourth inning. Delmon Young gave Detroit the lead back with a RBI single in the fifth to go up 4-3. The White Sox struck back in their part of the fifth inning when Alex Rios successfully broke up a double-play with a hard slide into Omar Infante causing him to errantly throw to Prince Fielder allowing the tying and go-ahead runs putting the Sox up 5-4. Doug Fister pitched four innings struggling the entire time, allowing five runs on eight hits for the loss. Jose Quintana also struggled for the White Sox allowing four runs on seven hits in his four innings of work. Chicago's bullpen was effective from the fifth inning on though, allowing Detroit only one hit the rest of the way.
