Lions struggle without Johnson as they lose to Packers, 22-9
Detroit's wide receiver Calvin Johnson missed the fifth game of his career with a knee injury, and his absence sent the Lions sputtering to their 23rd straight road loss to the Green Bay Packers, 22-9, at Lambeau Field.
The Lions finished with a season-low 286 yards of offense and didn’t score a touchdown until the game’s final minutes of a loss. Lions running back Reggie Bush ran for just 44 yards on 13 carries and caught four passes for merely 25 yards. Quarterback Matthew Stafford completed 25-of-40 passes for 262 yards and the Lions, owners of the NFL’s best third-down defense entering the day, allowed Green Bay to convert on 7-of-16 attempts.
Despite the loss, the Lions (3-2) remain in a first-place tie atop the NFC North after Chicago lost to the New Orleans Saints. Up next for Detroit is a road trip to Cleveland next Sunday at 1 pm against the Browns.
