Tigers fall short to Red Sox again, 1-0; Cards go up 3-1 in NLCS
After Comerica Park suffered a power outage that lasted 17 minutes in the middle of the 2nd inning, the Detroit Tigers suffered another 1-0 shutout to the Boston Red Sox in Game 3 of the American League Championship Series. Detoit now trails, 2-1, in the best-of-seven series.
The only run of the game came off a solo homerun from Mike Napoli on a full count against Justin Verlander in the 7th inning. Verlander allowed four hits, one walk, and one earned run over eight innings with 10 strikeouts.
The Tigers will attempt to even the series this Wednesday night at 8 pm inside Comerica Park, where the temperature will be in the mid-50s.
Matt Holliday and pinch-hitter Shane Robinson connected for the first homeruns of the National League Championship Series to give the St. Louis Cardinals a 4-2 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers to take a commanding 3-1 lead in their best-of-seven series.
Game 5 is set for this Wednesday afternoon at 4 pm inside Dodger Stadium, with the Cardinals looking to clinch their 19th NL pennant. Zack Greinke is set to start for Los Angeles against Joe Kelly.
