Rangers dominate Canadiens in Game 1 of Eastern Finals
Martin St. Louis, who will attend his mother's funeral with his teammates on Sunday, scored the opening goal of the Eastern Conference Finals to power the New York Rangers to a 7-2 rout of the Montreal Canadiens.
New York got goals from six other players and goaltender Henrik Lundqvist quieted talk of a Montreal jinx in a 20-save effort. It was his first victory at the Bell Centre for the Rangers in more than two years.
New York will take their 1-0 lead into Game 2 this Monday night in Montreal.
