Shootout struggles carry over as Wings fall to Bruins, 3-2
David Krejci and Reilly Smith, the only two players to beat Detroit's goaltender Jimmy Howard in 65 minutes of regulation, both scored again in the shootout to give the Boston Bruins a 3-2 victory over the Red Wings.
While Howard was beaten on both shootout attempts, neither Gustav Nyquist or Andrej Nestrasil could get their shots on net in the extra period. Nyquist tied the game with a power-play goal late in the 3rd period and Tomas Tatar also scored for Detroit earlier in the game.
With a point added to their record, the Red Wings will head to Toronto this Friday night at 7:30 to begin a home-and-home series with their Original 6 rival Maple Leafs.
