MSU defeats Maryland; West destroys East; CMU wins again
Jeremy Langford ran for 138 yards and two touchdowns as the Michigan State Spartans received another strong performance from their defense in a 37-15 victory over the Maryland Terrapins. RJ Williamson scored on a 22-yard interception return for the Spartans (8-2, 5-1 Big Ten) and senior quarterback Connor Cook went 14-for-31 for 240 yards, but failed to throw a touchdown pass for the first time this season. Michigan State will return home next week to host Rutgers in another Big Ten matchup.
The Western Michigan Broncos ran the opening kickoff back for a touchdown and put up 27 points in the 1st quarter en route to a dominating 51-7 victory over the Eastern Michigan Eagles at Waldo Stadium in Kalamazoo. The Broncos finished with 497 yards of total offense and it was their fifth-straight win, thus improving their overall record to 7-3, which is the most wins for the program since 2011. WMU are currently tied for first place in the MAC West Division with a 5-1 record. The Broncos will travel to Mt. Pleasant to face their in-state rival Central Michigan next Saturday at 1 pm.
Cooper Rush threw three touchdown passes to Titus Davis and freshman Devon Spalding came off the bench to run for 147 yards & two touchdowns as the Central Michigan Chippewas held on to defeat the Miami RedHawks, 34-27, at Kelly/Shorts Stadium. The Chippewas (7-4, 5-2 MAC) have won three straight games and five of their last six. CMU will close the regular season next Saturday when they host their in-state & MAC rival Western Michigan.
