Playoff-bound Lions hold off Bears at Soldier Field, 20-14
After officially making the playoffs Saturday due to Philadelphia losing to Washington, the Detroit Lions managed to get the Chicago Bears at Soldier Field, 20-14, thanks to a late touchdown run by Joique Bell.
Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson caught six passes for 103 yards and quarterback Matthew Stafford completed 22-of-39 passes for 243 yards and hit the 4,000-yard mark for the fourth straight year. Reggie Bush ran for a touchdown & 54 yards along with 44 yards receiving as Detroit handed Chicago (5-10) their fourth straight loss.
Despite the win, nothing was settled, thanks to Green Bay defeating Tampa Bay, 20-3. As a result, the Lions (11-4) will hit the road to face the Packers (11-4) next Sunday afternoon at 4:25 pm and it will be for the 2014 NFC North Division Championship. Detroit is currently second in the NFC playoff picture & have another chance to defend, and even improve their position should Seattle & Arizona lose next week.
