TCU sends message in Peach Bowl; Boise & GT victorious
Feeling cheated out of the playoff picture, the TCU Horned Frogs took out their anger with three touchdown passes from Trevone Boykin to wipe out the Mississippi Rebels, 42-3, at the Peach Bowl in Atlanta, Georgia. Josh Doctson had two touchdown catches and Aaron Green ran for a score & added a touchdown reception for the Horned Frogs, who finished their bitter sweet season at 12-1.
Donte Deayon returned an interception for a touchdown in the 3rd quarter and sack leader Kamalei Correa had his biggest takedown of the season on the game's final play as the Boise State Broncos held on to a 38-30 victory over the Arizona Wildcats at the Fiesta Bowl in Glendale, Arizona. Jay Ajayi scored two of his three touchdowns in the 1st quarter and finished with 134 yards rushing. Boise's quarterback Grant Hedrick was perfect through his first 14 passes and threw for 304 yards & a touchdown. Thomas Sperbeck had 12 catches for 199 yards.
In Miami, the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets came away with a 49-34 victory over the Mississippi State Bulldogs at the Orange Bowl. Quarterback Justin Thomas was chosen the game's outstanding player after he directed an offense that totaled an Orange Bowl-record 452 yards rushing. This includes running for 121 yards & three touchdowns and throwing for 125 yards & a TD.
