Stepan sends Rangers to East Finals with 2-1 OT win over Caps
Derek Stepan scored 11:24 in overtime to get the New York Rangers past the Washington Capitals, 2-1, in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference semifinals.
The Rangers are the only team to win a series after trailing 3-1 in successive years, doing the same thing to Pittsburgh in the East semis last season. Henrik Lundqvist, who made 35 saves, became the third goalie to win six Game 7s, joining Patrick Roy and Martin Brodeur.
New York will remain at home as they move on to face Tampa Bay in the East Finals, which begins this Saturday afternoon at 1 pm inside Madison Square Garden.
