Florida defeats East Carolina in Birmingham Bowl, 28-20

Treon Harris threw an 86-yard touchdown pass to Ahmad Fulwood and cornerback Vernon Hargreaves III intercepted a pass in the end zone late to preserve the Florida Gators' 28-20 victory over the East Carolina Pirates at the Birmingham Bowl.

Redshirt freshman running back Adam Lane was chosen the game's MVP after rushing 16 times for 109 yards and a touchdown while Matt Jones was sidelined with a shoulder injury.

Shane Carden went 34-of-66 for 427 yards for the Pirates (8-5), but Hargreaves' pick with 1:20 left ended the day. It was an ECU record for passing attempts and the most thrown against Florida.
