Howard's clutch 3-pointer helps UDM slip past Vikings, 66-65
Juwan Howard Jr. made a 3-pointer with 4.5 seconds left to push the Detroit Titans past the 1st-place Cleveland State Vikings, 66-65, at Calihan Hall. On the last possession, Cleveland State (15-11, 9-3 HL) took the inbounds pass and Charlie Lee ran it up the floor, all the way to the net, but his layup rolled in-&-out as time expired.
Howard Jr. finished with a game-high 23 points on 9-of-14 shooting with three 3-pointers and three assists. Anton Wilson had nine points for the Titans and Chris Jenkins recorded eight points & four rebounds.
Detroit (12-15, 5-7 HL) will head north on Woodward Ave. to Rochester this Sunday afternoon for a Horzon League in-state showdown with Oakland at the O'Rena. Game time is set for 3 pm.
