Frustration grows as Tigers fall to Minnesota again, 9-5
Former Tiger Torii Hunter hit a two-run homerun into the third deck of Target Field that highlighted a 16-hit afternoon for the Minnesota Twins in a 9-5 win over Detroit.
Tigers starting pitcher Alfredo Simon allowed 10 hits and seven runs, in which five were earned. Simon has allowed 30 runs over his last five starts. The team's struggles even got to Victor Martinez, who was ejected over arguing a third strike call made by home plate umpire Marty Foster. The confrontation got so heated that Detroit's manager Brad Ausmus stepped in between Martinez and Foster.
On the eve of the All-Star break, the Tigers will wrap up the first half of the 2015 season in Minnesota this Sunday afternoon at 2 pm.
