Simon completes 1-hit game as Tigers shutout Texas, 4-0
In front of 33,727 fans, starting pitcher Alfredo Simon threw a one-hitter in his first career complete game as he helped the Detroit Tigers to a 4-0 shutout victory over the Texas Rangers.
Simon (11-7) walked two and struck out five batters while throwing 116 pitches, which is just three short of his career high. Nick Castellanos drove home Miguel Cabrera in the 1st & 3rd inning and Cabrera made it 3-0 in the 5th inning with a single. Victor Martinez added a sacrifice fly in the 7th inning to make it 4-0.
The Tigers will look to keep the momentum going when they face Texas again at Comerica Park this Friday night at 7 pm.
