Tigers endure weekend series sweep vs. Blue Jays, 9-2
Edwin Encarnacion homered for the fourth time in two days and Josh Donaldson also connected as the Toronto Blue Jays swept the Detroit Tigers over the weekend, 9-2.
Detroit's starting pitcher Alfredo Simon allowed six runs and six hits, including all four homeruns, in five innings as the now last-place Tigers lost for the ninth time in 10 games.
After resting on Monday, Detroit will return to America, but will remain on the road as they start September, the last month of the regular season, off with a trip to Kansas City for an AL Central showdown with the first-place Royals in a three-game series. The first game is set for this Tuesday night at 8 pm.
