Tigers unable to keep up with Blue Jays in series finale, 10-5
Justin Verlander allowed seven runs and his ERA fell to 6.75 as the Detroit Tigers suffered a 10-5 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays. Verlander remains winless in four starts since missing the first two months of the season because of a strained right triceps.
Jose Bautista and Justin Smoak hit homeruns for Toronto in a six-run 5th inning, all against Verlander, who is now 15-14 since his sports-hernia surgery last year.
Up next for Detroit is a trip to the northwest to take on the Seattle Mariners in a three-game series, which begins this Monday night at 10 pm ET.
