Red Wings balance offense & defense with 4-0 win over Kings
Thomas Vanek scored twice during a three-goal 1st period and goaltender Jared Coreau made 34 saves for his first career shutout as the Detroit Red Wings defeated the Los Angeles Kings at the Staples Center, 4-0.
Andreas Athanasiou also scored in the 1st period and Coreau denied Tanner Pearson of a penalty shot early in the game. Anthony Mantha added a goal in the 3rd period to help Detroit halt a two-game skid.
The Red Wings' west coast trip continues as they visit San Jose to take on the Sharks this Saturday night at 10:30 pm ET.
