J.D. Martinez's 9th-inning HR gets Tigers 4-3 win over Angels
In just his second game of the season, J.D. Martinez hit his second homerun of the game in the 9th inning to help the Detroit Tigers get past the Los Angeles Angels, 4-3.
Martinez opened the 9th with a solo shot off Bud Norris (1-2) to snap a 3-3 tie. He came off the disabled list Friday after missing Detroit's first 33 games with a sprained right foot.
Continuing to wear their special pink uniforms to honor Mother's Day and to raise breast cancer awareness, the Tigers will send out Justin Verlander to take on the L.A. Angels to conclude their 4-game weekend series this Sunday afternoon at 3:30 pm.
