#4 Western Michigan upsets #1 U-M in CCHA semifinals
#4 Western Michigan made a statement as a deserving team in the upcoming NCAA College Hockey Tournament next weekend. The Broncos beat #1 Michigan, 5-2 in the CCHA Semifinals at the Joe Louis Arena. Western lead 1-0 after one, followed by a four-goal outburst led by Kyle O'Kane's goal and 19 shots on net in the second period. Broncos goalie Jerry Kuhn was tough in net throughout the entire game with 29 saves.
This will be the Broncos first time in the CCHA Finals since 1986. They will face the #3 Redhawks from Miami University on Saturday for the CCHA Championship and an automatic bid to the NCAA Hockey tournament next weekend.
