Titans suffer heartbreak to start 2011
A great effort by the Titans after a slow start, but in the end, it was Milwaukee who escaped Detroit with an overtime victory, 84-81. Milwaukee made key 3-pointers, but the Titans kept countering by drawing fouls & making free throws. In regulation, the Panthers' Kaylon Williams made a 3-pointer at the buzzer from almost mid-court to tie the game at 73 & force overtime. With 5.1 seconds left in OT, the Titans' Ray McCallum went for a three of his own as the clock was winding down to zero, but the shot did not fall through. Ray finished the game with 20 points, while Nick Minnerath (above) lead the Titans with 21 points. Milwaukee had 5 players with double figures, including Tone Boyle who lead with 24 points (15 were 3-pointers).
Next weekend, the Titans will be in Chicago to play Loyola & UIC before returning home on Friday, January 14 to face Butler at 9 pm on ESPNU. As for the women, they will face Milwaukee tomorrow afternoon after enduring a tough loss to Green Bay last night. The women's next home game will be this Thursday at 7 pm against Valparaiso.
