The night had a local feel to it as Michigan (Big 10) & Western Michigan (MAC) came to Calihan Hall for doubleheader action against the men & women of the Detroit Titans.

In the first game, sophomore Senee Shearer hitting five 3-pointers in the 2nd half to ignite a Titan rally, but it was not enough as the Titans dropped a 61-51 decision to the Michigan Wolverines. Shearer came into the game 0-of-14 from three and missed her first three of the game before connecting on her five triples in the second half ending with a career-high 15 points on 5-of-10 from the field (all 3-pointers).

Freshman Shareta Brown had 15 points and a game-high 11 rebounds. The 15 points also kept her streak alive of scoring in double digits in every game this season, while she also posted her fourth double-double of the year.

The Titans (1-8 ) were down by 17, 44-27, with 12:51 left when they staged a comeback, cutting the deficit all the way down to just two, before Michigan pulled away late with clutch 3-pointers. After the finals in school are over, the Titan women will return to action next Sunday (Dec. 18) when they host IPFW a.k.a. Fort Wayne at 1 pm.

In the nightcap, fans witnessed the return of Eli Holman as the Detroit Titans used a strong first half to defeat the Western Michigan Broncos, 92-81. UDM tallied a season-high 61 first-half points and held a 22-point lead at the break in the win.

Holman, a senior playing in his first game of the season after returning from a leave of absence, came off-the-bench and scored 10 points with three boards, a block and an assist in just eight minutes of work. He was one of three Titans already in double figures at the break as Chase Simon scored 13 and Jason Calliste had 10 as the UDM shot a 63.9% in the 1st half. Holman finished the night with 21 points, seven rebounds and four blocks in just 19 minutes.

Detroit will go for their 3rd straight win when they travel to Alabama to face the Crimson Tide this Sunday evening at 6 pm.
