Red Wings pull out win in shootout vs. Vancouver, 4-3
Danny Cleary spent his first day in Vancouver in hospital making sure he didn't have a blood clot after a cyst burst in his swollen left knee. After getting back to work, he scored to give Detroit a quick lead and then set up the third goal to help the Red Wings get past the Vancouver Canucks, 4-3 in a shootout at Rogers Arena.
Pavel Datsyuk and Jiri Hudler both beat Roberto Luongo in the shootout, while Jimmy Howard stopped Alexander Edler and watched as Mason Raymond, who scored to tie the game late in regulationa as he lost the puck.
The Wings had control of the game the first two periods, saw the Canucks dominate most of the third, but ultimately were able to improve their road record to 15-14.
