Red Wings end shootout slump against the L.A. Kings, 3-2
The Detroit Red Wings added two more points to their record in the Eastern Conference standings after finally conquering the shootout against the Los Angeles Kings, 3-2, at the Joe Louis Arena. Tomas Tatar, in his first game since the passing of his father, secured the win in the shootout.
Wings' goaltender Jimmy Howard made 30 saves before stopping all three Kings attempts in the shootout and even exchanged a few blows with his Team USA teammate Jonathan Quick.
Detroit will remain at home as they get ready to host St. Louis this Monday night in a special Martin Luther King, Jr. Day game. Game is set to begin at 7:30 pm.
