Red Wings struggled early down 2-nothing after one period losing 5-2 to the Kings in the Staples Center. Jiri Hudler cut LA's lead to 2-1 after his 21st goal. Los Angeles responsed with two unanswered make the game practically out of reach 4-1. Johan Franzen scored late in the third but with an empty net goal by the Kings ended the comeback.
Jimmy Howard 22 saves coming back from a groin injury, Detroit 0-2 on this current road trip.
