The Detroit Tigers were overmatched in every way today losing 10-4 to a very hot Texas Rangers team. Game one of a day night doubleheader was hectic from the beginning. Tiger starter Rick Porcello was bulldozed for nine runs on ten hits in the first two innings, which included a three run homer by Josh Hamilton. Porcello was pulled in the second inning by manager Jim Leyland who mercifully put him out of his misery. Duane Below was brought in and settled things down pitching six scoreless innings giving up just four hits. Daniel Schlereth relieved Below in the eighth inning. Schlereth gave up a solo home run to Mike Napoli in the top of the ninth, giving the Rangers their tenth run of the game. it was the fifth consecutive game that Napoli has hit a home run. Matt Harrison pitched a strong game for Texas allowing only two runs on five hits going seven and two thirds.Manager Ron Washington brought in reliever Koji Uehara in the eighth.

Uehara was quickly tagged for a two run homer by Miguel Cabrera giving the Tigers their fourth and final run. overall it was just a poor performance by the Tigers both offensively and defensively. Detroit hopes to fare better in the night game, as they send their ace Justin Verlander to the mound against Neftali Feliz. After the game Detroit made a couple of moves, sending pitcher Daniel Schlereth down to Toledo, and bringing up right hander Thad Weber. Weber is currently fourth overall in the International League with a 0.75 ERA.
