2012 All-Star Prince Fielder hit a towering three-run homerun in the 8th inning that helped the Detroit Tigers rally past the Minnesota Twins, 7-3 to salvage a series split.

Rick Porcello came into the game on a hot streak that featured three straight quality starts. Porcello threw 77 pitches and had an extremely rare line in the box score: 3 2/3 innings, 12 hits and three earned runs.

In the 8th inning, Austin Jackson hit a one-out triple down the rightfield line. Quintin Berry drew a pinch-hit walk and Miguel Cabrera tied the score at 3 with a grounder up the middle. Fielder’s three-run blast was then followed by Delmon Young’s solo homerun to win the game.

Before wrapping up the first half of the season, the Tigers will stay at Comerica Park to host a 3-game series against the Kansas City Royals this weekend. The first game will begin this Friday night at 7 p.m.
