The good news for the Detroit Tigers is that they remain one game back of the Chicago White Sox for 1st place in the AL Central Division, despite losing 3-2 to Cleveland. The bad news for them is that, thanks to the Sox also losing to Minnesota 19-8, their magic number was brought down to 27. The Tigers will try once again to take down Cleveland in hopes of regaining a share of the AL Central lead.
AL EAST - By shutting out Toronto, 12-0, Baltimore pulled into a tie with the N.Y. Yankees, who lost to Tampa Bay, for the division lead.
AL WEST - Even though both Texas & Oakland lost, the Rangers' magic number was reduced to 24.
AL WILD CARD - With a win over the N.Y. Yankees, Tampa Bay moved closer (a game & a half) to being in the top two for the wild card lead with the magic number of 26 against them.
NL EAST - As Washington defeated the Chicaho Cubs and Atlanta being shut out by Colorado, the Nationals improved their magic number to 20.
NL CENTRAL - With Cincinnati & St. Louis both winning, the Reds' magic number dropped down to 18.
NL WEST - Despite San Francisco & the L.A. Dodgers losing, the Giants gained the advantage as their magic numebr was reduced to 22.
