The Oakland Athletics came back home to their Coliseum, and handed the Detroit Tigers a roadblock defeating them in game three 2-0. Oakland starter Brett Anderson silenced the high-priced Tiger lineup surrendering only two hits, two walks while striking out six. Coco Crisp pulled a potential home-run ball from Prince Fielder at the top of the center-field wall. Anibal Sanchez pitched well for six innings giving up 2 runs on five hits striking out three. The Athletics pitching staff kept the heart of the Tigers line-up 1 through 4 to 1 for 15. Yoenis Cespedes singled in a run in the first inning, and Seth Smith homered in the fifth giving the Athletics a 2-0 victory. The Tigers hope to end the series in game 4 when they send Max Scherzer to the mound to face Oakland rookie A.J. Griffin Wednesday night for a 9:37 start.
