Royals catcher Salvador Perez tagged out Prince Fielder just before Fielder would have touched home plate on a two-out double in the 9th inning by Omar Infante as Kansas City came away with a shutout victory over the Detroit Tigers, 1-0.
Detroit's magic number remains at 10 in the AL Central Division, thanks to Cleveland defeating the Chicago White Sox, 8-1. The Indians are now only five games behind the Tigers for 1st place.
Despite showers in the forecast, Detroit will attempt to close out the 3-game weekend series with a win when they play the Royals at Comerica Park this Sunday afternoon at 1 pm.
