MSU pounds Michigan; Chips & Broncos win; EMU lose again
The #8 Michigan State Spartans pounded Michigan, 35-11, for their sixth victory in the past seven games against the Wolverines. Jeremy Langford ran for 177 yards & three touchdowns for the Spartans, who outgained Michigan 446-186 and won their 14th straight game against a Big Ten opponent. Next Saturday, Michigan returns to the Big House to host Indiana at 3:30 pm while Michigan State enjoys a bye week.
Saylor Lavallii came off the bench to rush for 80 yards and two touchdowns as the Central Michigan Chippewa defense proved too strong in defeating the Buffalo Bulls, 20-14, at UB Stadium. The win lifted the Chippewas to 5-4 (3-2 MAC) and will continue their road trip as they head to Ypsilanti next week to face Eastern Michigan at 1 pm.
The Western Michigan earned their third straight victory for the first time since 2010 by taking down the Ohio Bobcats, 42-21, during WMU’s 91st annual Homecoming. The Broncos improved to 5-3 on the season (3-1 MAC) by scoring 28 unanswered points, including 21 in the 2nd quarter, to build a 28-7 halftime lead. Sitting in second place in the MAC West, WMU wlll head to Miami (OH) to face the RedHawks next Saturday at 2:30 pm.
Eastern Michigan Eagles dropped a tough battle against the Northern Illinois Huskies, 28-17 at Rynearson Stadium. EMU were within seven points until the 4th quarter when back-to-back touchdowns propelled NIU to victory. With the loss, the Eagles fell to 2-6 (1-3 MAC) and will remain home for the next game against Central Michigan next Saturday afternoon at 1 pm.
