Red Wings stumble in Boston against Bruins, 5-2
The misery in Detroit continued on the ice as the Boston Bruins scored three goals in the 1st period en route to a 5-2 win over the Detroit Red Wings.
Even after withstanding the onslaught of pucks, Red Wings goaltender Jimmy Howard finished the night with 40 saves. Justin Abdelkader and Tomas Tatar were the only ones to score for Detroit.
Hours before ringing in the new year, the Red Wings will be back at the Joe Louis Arena this Wednesday night when they host the New Jersey Devils. Game time is set for 7:30 pm.
