After losing Price & Soria, Tigers hang on to defeat O's, 9-8
On the eve of the trading deadline, Yoenis Cespedes hit a homerun and drove in three runs as the Detroit Tigers held on to defeat the Baltimore Orioles, 9-8. Detroit led 7-0 after four innings and finished the game with 16 hits, including three apiece by Cespedes, Ian Kinsler, and Jose Iglesias.
Before the game started, the Tigers traded starting pitcher David Price to Toronto for three young pitchers: Daniel Norris, Matt Boyd, & Jairo Labourt. In addition, Detroit also traded closer Joakim Soria to Pittsburgh for JaCoby Jones, who can play two positions (outfielder and shortstop).
With the possibility of more trades coming up in the next few hours, the Tigers will be back on the field in Baltimore this Friday night at 7 pm.
