Heavy rain stops Tigers' series finale with Tampa Bay
For the third time in 11 days, the Detroit Tigers suffered a rainout at Comerica Park. The Tigers had a 2-0 lead through 2 1/2 innings of their scheduled series finale against the Tampa Bay Rays before heavy rain and thunderstorms led to a postponement. The game has been rescheduled in its entirety for 7:05 pm on Monday, June 13th, which had been a scheduled off-day for both teams.
The makeup game falls in the middle of what will now be an eight-game homestand for the Tigers, in between a four-game series against the Seattle Mariners and a three-game set against the division-leading Cleveland Indians. It's the second makeup game in June for Detroit, which had to reschedule a May 17 postponement against the Toronto Blue Jays for June 27th.
Provided there are no more rainouts, making up the game on June 13th will have the Tigers playing 20 days in a row (June 3-22).
