Peralta lights up the board as Tigers pound Twins, 8-2
Jhonny Peralta finished a triple short of the cycle with four RBIs to lift the Detroit Tigers to an 8-2 victory over the Minnesota Twins. It's the Tigers’ 11th straight win over their division rivals.
Peralta laced an RBI double, which meant that on each of his past six plate appearances against the Twins over the past two nights, he had gotten a hit, and each of those hits had driven in at least one run. Two of those RBI hits were homers, and another two were doubles.
According to STATS LLC, Peralta became the sixth player since at least 1974 to get an RBI hit on six straight times to the plate.
Max Scherzer (11-5) gave up only one run and four hits in seven innings and Ryan Raburn also homered for the Tigers, who picked up a game on second-place Cleveland and pushed the Twins seven games back in the division.
