Rick Porcello (5-5) pitched six innings allowing a run and six hits that led the Tigers past the Rangers 8-2. A five run first inning brought Detroit outfront, Miguel Cabrera had a two run double, Delmon Young's RBI single against Texas starter Justin Grimm (0-1)
Tigers righthand batters were 6x7 against Grimm, while Porcello threw 96 pitches and walked three and stuckout seven. Cabrera 3x4 and three RBI's while Joaquin Benoit came in with two outs in the eighth inning.
