Devils & Caps tie series; Phoenix & Blues take 3-1 leads
The 39-year-old Martin Brodeur bounced back from his shortest postseason performance with a record-setting 24th Stanley Cup playoff shutout as he lead the New Jersey Devils to a 4-0 victory over the Florida Panthers in the Eastern Conference quarterfinals, tying their first-round series at two.
Rookie goalie Braden Holtby was superb before and after, despite giving up one goal, as he finished with 44 saves and Alexander Semin scored the go-ahead goal to lead the Washington Capitals to a 2-1 victory over the Boston Bruins that tied the Eastern Conference series at two games apiece.
Mikkel Boedker scored in overtime for the second straight game - his only two career postseason goals - as the Phoenix Coyotes took command a 3-1 of the Western Conference quarterfinal series lead by beating the Chicago Blackhawks, 3-2.
Brian Elliott made 24 saves and B.J. Crombeen & Andy McDonald scored as the St. Louis Blues moved one win away from the second round of the playoffs by defeating the San Jose Sharks, 2-1 to take a 3-1 series lead in the Western Conference quarterfinals.
