Evgeny Kuznetsov scored the go-ahead goal with 7:18 remaining in the game and goalie Braden Holtby only needed to make 10 saves to lead the Washington Capitals to a 2-1 victory that eliminated the New York Islanders in seven in the Eastern Conference quarterfinals.
Joel Ward gave Washington a 1-0 lead late in the 2nd period and Frans Nielsen helped the Islanders pull even early in the 3rd period.
