Anibal Sanchez pitched five scoreless innings leaving the game with a 2-0 lead. Miguel Cabrera drove in those two runs in the third and fifth innings. it wouldn't be enough. Detroit has no set closer this season after letting Jose Valverde go at the end of last year. The Tiger bullpen let the game get away with Phil Coke giving up the Twin's third and winning run up in the bottom of the ninth when Eduardo Escobar doubled to deep left center, scoring Jamey Carroll and Brian Dozier for the Twins victory. Detroit will try to take the rubber game of the series on Thursday when they send Rick Porcello to the mound to face Mike Pelfrey for a 1:10 start.
