Central & Western women prevail; Eastern falls short vs. Buffalo
Cassie Breen scored 26 points to lead the Central Michigan Chippewas past the MAC East-leading Ohio Bobcats, 70-64. The win improved Central to 19-6 (11-2 MAC), as they maintained their shared of first place in the West division with Northern Illinois.
The win was Sue Guevara’s 172nd as she became the all-time winningest coach in CMU women’s basketball history. Guevara, who is in her 10th year, is now 172-139 as the Chippewas’ head coach and has surpassed Donita Davenport, who went 171-165 as CMU’s coach from 1984-96.
Up next, Central Michigan will host Toledo this Saturday at noon as part of a doubleheader at the McGuirk Arena.
